Andy Beggan
Andy Beggan manages The University of Nottingham’s central e-learning support team, the Learning Team—shortlisted for the Association for Learning Technology awards Learning Technologist Team of the year 2007. Andy is actively involved in the support and promotion of e-learning across the entire University including the international campuses in China and Malaysia, and has successfully led the development of a number of high profile institutional e-learning projects, including: the University’s Open Courseware initiative (U-Now), one of the first in the UK; VLE consolidation and migration; e-assessment strategic review; e-learning support website; e-learning community support projects; Second Life presence; and University podcasting service.Andy is a keen advocate for technology enhanced learning at Nottingham and currently leads two UK JISC funded Open Educational Repository projects, BERLiN a 12-month project to enhance and expand Nottingham’s existing OER, u-Now and Xpert a rapid innovation project exploring the development of the technical infrastructure to underpin the creation of a distributed repository of e-learning resources published through the open source e-learning development tool, Xerte Online Toolkits.In addition, Andy has provided strategic direction to a range of IS Learning Team activities including Xerte and the One-Stop- Language Shop (shortlisted for the Times Higher Education ICT innovation awards 2008). Before joining The University of Nottingham, Andy managed and worked within e-learning development teams across a wide range of sectors including HE, e-learning publishing and the financial sector for over 16 years.
