Christel has been the Director of ICC – International Language Network since 2006. The ICC is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) with participatory status at the Council of Europe. The ICC is a non-for-profit organisation bringing together people actively involved in foreign language teaching and providing them with a forum for exchange.
Before joining the ICC Christel used to work as head of department at an adult education association which included her function as local secretary for the Cambridge ESOL examinations. She was also the coordinator and examiner for the main suite Cambridge examinations, telc (The European Language Certificates) and ‘Goethe examinations. She worked as visiting lecturer at Hamburg University in the department of education for more than ten years. Her published works include a wide range of materials on course design and teacher training, as well as several course books and various articles. Her knowledge of online training stretches over a period of more than ten years. She worked as online tutor for the Institute of Education at the University of London and for the Northern Illinois University de Kalb as well as for Abacus Learning Systems, UK, developing and implementing various online courses in the area of online teacher training and teaching business English online.
