Hendrik Drachsler
Hendrik Drachsler studied educational sciences and computer sciences at the University of Duisburg. During his studies he worked in a medical research group at the Fraunhofer Institute FIT. There he designed a knowledge management tool to distribute different kind of media about medical navigation systems. The output of this knowledge management tool was used for an online user support system, for generating the manual of the software, and to create quality tests within the ISO 9001 standard for the navigation software. He also did his diploma at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft on a simulator for transthoracic and transesophageal echocardio treatments. The simulator enabled authentic personalized learning experiences through offering a simulation environment for sensor motor and mental model training for medical professionals.Currently, he is doing his PhD on personalized 'Navigation Support for Learners in Informal Learning Environments' at the Educational Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies (Celstec) of the Open University of the Netherlands (OUNL). His PhD takes into account how learning environments can be personalized through various techniques. He explicitly focus on the use of emerging information like tags and ratings given by the community. As part of this work, he has co-organized a number of presentations on Web2.0 related technologies and has presented at a number of national and international workshops and conferences.
