Päivi Hakkarainen

Päivi Hakkarainen received her PhD from the University of Lapland, Finland, in 2007. Her doctoral thesis focused on the educational use of digital videos for supporting meaningful learning.Currently she is senior lecturer in media education at the Centre for Media Pedagogy at the University of Lapland's Faculty of Education. She teaches both face-to-face courses and inter-university online courses.Her research interests include online learning, video in learning, meaningful learning, pedagogical models and media in the lives of older adults.Previously she worked as project manager and researcher in several national and international research and development projects encouraging the educational use of ICTs.She has published her research in international scientific journals and compilation works.
