Helen Keegan is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Social and Educational Technologies at the University of Salford (UK). Her research interests can be grouped into three broad areas: virtual communities, online social networking and digital identity; learning technologies and social software in education; and digital literacies and new pedagogies. For the past 12 years she has worked on a wide range of funded projects (FP7, LLP, EU Socrates-Minerva and EPSRC) in various capacities from Researcher and Evaluator to Academic Director - the common themes of these projects are the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Teaching and Learning. Alongside authoring and consulting, Helen delivers regular workshops and seminars on digital identity, digital culture and learning innovation - recent invited presentations have included BBC Global News/BBC Worldwide and the EPSRC. She sits on the editorial and review boards of journals including the British Journal of Educational Technology, the Journal of the Association of Learning Technology and the International Journal of Virtual and Personal Learning Environments.
