I'm Research Director for the independent Media Lab Waag Society, based in Amsterdam. My interest is in new technologies for societal goals, eg. empowerment of (disabled) users, education, culture and government. I establish collaborations that combine the knowledge, experience and passion of the participants, working towards shared goals, using Design Thinking and co-creation techniques.
I have experience in the development of Public Internet Services. I'm an experienced programme manager, specialised in innovative usage of new technologies. My background is in Artificial Intelligence and e-learning standards and applications, as well as in film making.
I've spoken, written and lectured on Open Innovation, Design Thinking, Living Labs, CineGrid, Sustainability, Fablabs and User Empowerment. I'm a regular moderator at the PICNIC cross media festival, as well as design and innovation workshops in the Netherlands and abroad.
