Volker Lichtenthäler joined the eLearning-Centre of InWEnt in July 2008 as senior project manager being responsible for the Global Campus 21 Management Academy. He also now has the responsibility for InWEnt's Regional Capacity Building for E-Learning in Africa. Born in Germany, he has been designing, developing and delivering courses in various subjects for a diverse mix of cultures and communities, including 5 years as a lecturer in Business German at Dublin City University in Ireland and several months in Mexico and Brazil. In 1999 he was awarded the European Label for Innovation in Language Teaching and Learning by the Linguistics Institute of Ireland. For 4 years, Mr Lichtenthäler also worked as instructional designer and author of Web-based Trainings at the Forschungsinstitut Betriebliche Bildung (Vocational Training Research Department) in Nuremberg. In recent years, he has been working as a consultant for private companies as well as non-profit organisations, mainly in the area of cross-cultural training and international leadership communication. Starting off in industry as a trained type-setter he was also able to gain extensive experience in the media throughout his career.He obtained a Masters’ degree in German Studies and Latin American Studies of the Free University Berlin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications in Education of Dublin City University and Postgraduate Certificates in Open and Distance Education of the Open University/UK.
