Pedro Mayoral
Professor Mayoral holds a College degree in English Language and a Master in Sciences in the field of Technology and Education both from the University of Colima, he holds a Certificate for Teachers (With Commendation) from the Anglo Institute and a Certificate in Students Centered Learning and Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) from Marjon’s University of Exeter, UK. He also has a certificate as eTutor from the British Council, UK. He has 22 years of experience working for private and public schools as teacher of young learners, from early stimulation and kindergarten to elementary levels. He has experience as school coordinator and English language Director in a private school in Colima, México. He is full time professor and researcher at the University of Colima since 2004. He has attended several national and international conferences as speaker, such as: three times at the University Program in Foreign Languages (PROULEX in Spanish) at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico; three times at the University Forum for Specialist in English Language, (FEULE in Spanish) in Mexico, four times at the National Forum for Language Specialists CELE at the National University of Mexico, UNAM, four times speaker at the FONAEL, nowadays this forum is called FEL (International Forum for Language Specialists). He presented a workshop named "Using Window Movie Maker to Create Teaching Aids" at the Electronic Village of the TESOL New York 2008 in USA, and a research paper on the implementation of the Problem Based Learning methodology to teach languages at the Asia-Pacific Congress on Problem Based Learning (PBL) held at the China Medical University in 2008. He presented a paper on the use of YouTube as a resource centre to teach Geodesy and Cartography for Surveyors at the FIG International Congress 2010 held in Sydney Australia in April 2010. Now he is a professor of subjects such as: Educational Psychology, Teaching Aids Design using technology and Teaching English to Children at the University of Colima. He is interested in the use of basic technology tools to develop special skills in future teachers at the School of Languages. His interest areas are basically, the use of technology to teach young learners and university students as well as in the implementation of learning centred methodologies; lately he is being exploring the use of public web sources to enrich the teaching practice and promote or facilitate the autonomy learning. He is responsible of a teaching aids workshop at the School of Languages, he coordinates the Professional Practice and Two different programs related to the Teaching of Languages and Investigation.
