El-Marie Mostert is an educational consultant, project manager and instructional designer from the Department for Education Innovation at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She has been working at the university since 1990. During this period she was involved with many e-learning projects including web-based learning, multimedia design and development and computer-based testing. Her main focus area is e-learning and objective and computer-based assessment - an important component of the assessment strategy of many academic departments at the University of Pretoria. She was part of the instructional design team involved with the development of a tailor-made computer-based testing system that adheres to all the specifications and needs of students and lecturers of the university. This project was based on research and therefore a number of papers on this topic were presented at national and international conferences. She is also the educational consultant for the Faculty of Veterinary Science and is involved with curriculum development, project management, training and general educational support in the faculty. She obtained her Master’s degree in Computer Assisted Education cum laude in 1994 and a PhD in 2001 with the title: The design, development and implementation of electronic professional portfolios for educators. Her special interest is e-assessment and veterinary education and she has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences.
