Enhance Student Learning and Engagement Using VR Technology

Using Virtual Reality (VR) as a teaching tool can allow students to visualise and be immersed in situations where abstract concepts are applied in commercial settings, such as in accountancy or the law. With the technology becoming more accessible and affordable, VR can be used in assessments, weekly class activities and group projects. This BYOD Tech Lab will offer you the tools to immerse students in new paradigms of teaching and improve their engagement, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in unexpected units or subjects.
Melchor Inigo Raval

Melchor Raval is a teacher of law at Monash College in Victoria, Australia where he also coordinates and leads the Commercial Law unit. Melchor strives to implement creative and unusual ways of thinking to help students understand difficult legal concepts. He also values the use of technology in the classroom to improve student engagement and participation. This inspired him to use virtual reality as a teaching tool.
Melchor received his Bachelors and PhD in Business Law from Monash University, where he undertook his dissertation in copyright law and video game piracy in the video gaming industry. He has also written and shared his expertise in video game piracy in gaming publications.
