How To

Integrating Online and Experiential Learning to Foster Global Citizens

Date Thursday, Nov 24  Time   –    Room Rook

There is common agreement that higher education, as it stands, is not equipping students with skills that allow them to thrive professionally nor contribute to their communities in a meaningful way.

In this How To, you will learn how by combining an online programme that is intentionally designed, curriculum and pedagogy-wise, with in-person experiential learning, students can benefit from the best of both worlds. We will explore how to create opportunities for students to apply and transfer their classroom learning to the community and the workplace, narrowing the gap between what students “learn” and what they need to “do” to thrive in the real world, integrating a student’s entire learning journey.

Outcomes

  • Create experiential opportunities for students to apply their classroom learning and engage in their communities.
  • Design virtual classes that develop students’ skills and knowledge to be transferable to real-world scenarios.
  • Create intentional and integrated learning journeys that satisfy explicit learning objectives.
