Santisa Viljoen

Senior Lecturer, North-West University, South Africa

Santisa Viljoen is a Teaching Advancement at University (TAU) Fellow who holds a PhD in Musicology, an MA in English Literature (cum laude) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching. She is a senior lecturer at the School of Music of the North-West University (NWU) in Potchefstroom, South Africa, where she teaches Applied Vocal Studies, voice pedagogy and choral conducting. She also supervises postgraduate students and is the director of the NWU Conservatory Choir.

Santisa has taught and presented master classes at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm as part of lecturer exchange programmes. She participates in national and international conferences and has published in accredited journals. Her main interests in research include interdisciplinary studies on text, context and identity construction and choral conducting. Recently, she has a keen interest in the use of technology in teaching.
