DescriptionInnovative and creative teaching starts with innovative and creative pre- and in-service teacher training. What form do such innovations take and could they extend beyond the classroom and into the whole school community? This session offers strategies to prepare teacher trainers for the use of modern media.Demographic changes, the shift towards green strategies, as well as ever-changing technologies all have strategic implications on public-sector spending on skills development. In this session, experts discuss the potential impact these factors have on government agencies looking to improve re-skilling opportunities in a fast-changing society.Are open source solutions the answer to an institution’s online learning needs in a time of recession? This session debates how institutions implement low-budget solutions for their e-learning projects, focusing on open source integrated solutions and on how to combine these, thus offering an interesting comparison between commercial and open possibilities.This session highlights the latest developments in semantic tools and applications. It will show examples of semantic web services created using Latent Semantic Analysis, semantic labelling and single-sourcing applications in an eMBA and a new approach for collaborative knowledge based on the characteristics of semantic wikis.
