TitleThe School SessionDemonstrations and Best Practice ShowcasesePortfolio: From Individual Documentation to Extended Learning PlatformThe Mobile Learning Experience
DescriptionFurther to the pre-conference “School Forum”, this interactive session features primary and secondary school students and teacher trainees who will be discussing the use or lack of Web 2.0 tools in today’s schools. How can educational institutions successfully integrate formal and informal learning and effectively tap into open educational resources?Demonstrations and best practice showcases take place throughout the afternoon in Potsdam III. The highly flexible format chosen for these sessions allows conference participants a chance to experience a range of innovative tools, services and online courses.Several e-learning showcases illustrate the move from an individual’s record of learning, reflection and achievement to the ultimate show-and-tell platform to support lifelong learning and development. Priorites, technological change, as well as the move from small-scale pilot projects to full implementation are some of the issues up for discussion. To provide mobile learning any time, any place and at any pace, high- performance devices supporting the use of high quality audio-visual media are needed. This session presents device-specific learning tools such as flashcard learning, as well as a framework for the design of contextual mobile learning experiences.
