FD1 - Speexx Exchange 2023 – The Event for Curious HR and L&D Minds – Humanizing Work in an AI World

I am an experienced international speaker, author and facilitator with a passion for exploring, challenging and sharing. I believe that the role of learning leaders in the changing workplace is to unlock the potential of business and people. My goal has always been to help learning leaders ensure that their organisations are equipped and ready through outcome-led and evidence informed practice.

Together we will co-create the future of learning - one where learning leaders will become business critical as they uncover new ways to add value. As the founder of Towards Maturity- I led a global research programme for 15 years, bringing a community of practitioners, policy makers, experts and suppliers together to investigate how learning innovation delivers business value.
I continue to investigate, to explore , to communicate insights and facilitate collaborative change in the industry through workshops, coaching and sounding board work via #LearningChangemakers and as co-founder of Emerging Stronger.

Tracking the L&D learning innovation journey since 2003, I have authored/ co-authored of over 70 major research reports and, as a regular contributor to industry publications I have written over 300 articles. I continue to play an active role in research working with the CIPD and other significant industry bodies.

As an industry change maker, I regularly share good practice findings as a keynote presenter at conferences around the globe and through masterclasses, webinars and seminars. I have served on several advisory boards including the original LPI Capability Map, the CIPD Professional Map and Learning boards, the Online Educa Global Council and the original Distributed Electronic Learning Group for the UK government.

I am an academic fellow of the CIPD, a fellow of the RSA and the first female recipient of the Learning and Performance Institute’s Colin Corder Award for outstanding achievement. I was also the first recipient of the Learning Technology award for outstanding achievement and regularly appear in the top influencer lists for our industry.

Jo Cook is a speaker, instructional designer and classroom facilitator who specialises in virtual classrooms, webinars and live online learning technology. Jo’s passion is in helping and supporting teams, professionals and organisations embrace the benefits of the virtual classroom. Jo’s background includes: further and higher education; the charity sector; small and large organisations, including CNN News and Bupa International.
Through her company Lightbulb Moment, Jo has specialised in training learning professionals about virtual classroom design and delivery since 2013 and has spoken on various topics at conferences such as Learning Technologies, OEB and keynoted for Colleges Wales and E-learning Fusion.

Anca Iordache is an experienced Learning and OD professional. Most recently, Anca led the Future of Work Global Practice for Citi Learning and over the 20 years with Citi, she held various roles such as: Learning & Performance Advisor, Social Learning & Collaboration Expert, Community Builder, and 70-20-10 Change Maker. As of December 2022, Anca transitioned to Microsoft as Career Development Activation Lead, as part of the MCAPS (Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions) Employee Skilling Team.

Brian leads Microsoft’s global internal efforts to re-imagine career development through the power of skills and a pervasive learning culture. Career and skills development will be critical in helping Microsoft deliver on its mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
Previously, Brian was the Global Head of Learning & Enterprise Capabilities at AstraZeneca in a key moment in the company’s history as it sought to provide a global vaccine for COVID 19.
Brian Started his career at the global Bank, Citi, where he held a number of regional and global HR Director roles. From 2014 to 2019 he was the Head of Learning and Leadership Development for Citi in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Simon Brown is Chief Learning Officer for Novartis, a leading global medicine company based in Switzerland that is reimaging medicine. He is also author of the Amazon-bestselling book ‘The Curious Advantage’ and co-host of the popular podcast series.
Simon is leading the strategy for Novartis to ‘Go Big on Learning’ in support of the company-wide culture transformation to become ‘Inspired, Curious, and Unbossed’.

In 2020, Simon and the Novartis team received recognition by being awarded with the Chief Learning Officer Gold Award for Learning Strategy, building on Simon’s previous Silver Award for his learning transformation work at Lloyds Banking Group. In 2021, Novartis’ commitment to learning was recognised in the ATD BEST Awards as the #3 company globally, for success in talent development.

Before Novartis and Lloyds, he led the UK Learning Strategy offering at Accenture, and co-founded one of the UK's leading e-Learning companies, BrightWave. He has worked with leading global organizations including Microsoft, HSBC, Barclays, BP, Canon and PwC.

Simon is also Vice-Chair of Hult EF Advisory Council, and a Member of World Economic Forum Chief Learning Officer Community, Cornerstone Executive Advisory Council, NIIT Customer Advisory Board, Gartner’s L&D Leadership Board and a Venture Partner for Emerge Education.

Paul is passionate about creating smarter ways of working for organizations around the world. With a background in mathematics and strategic consulting, Paul is an expert in applying principles of Innovation, Design Thinking, and Digital to large-scale transformation, people engagement, and capability building. During his career, Paul has worked with many of the world’s leading companies to design strategy, align their leadership team, and engage and develop their people. As an entrepreneur and investor, Paul has a successful track record in establishing and growing innovative and technology-based businesses.

Garrick Jones co-founded The Ludic Group in 2004. He is a businessman, academic, and musician based in London. He is a Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where his research is focused on organizational decision-making, the future of learning, and creative economies. He is a Founding Partner of The Ludic Group, where his research into cloud-based transformation consulting, digital learning programs, and engagement are put into practice. Garrick is interested in how very large systems are able to transform themselves through learning and outcomes-based decision-making. Wearing his musical hat, Garrick composes for films, contemporary artists, and performances.

Serena is the head of Talent and Academy at SoftwareONE, a Fellow of the Learning and Performance Institute, on the advisory board for the Learning and Development Accelerator, & is currently also a doctoral candidate at Middlesex university, researching into the future of learning & the L&D function in technology accelerating organisations. In her function, Serena leads the firm's corporate university, as well as Performance Management, Succession Planning, Workforce Planning and Talent & HIPO Identification. Serena has a wealth of experience in leading learning functions regionally, globally and functionally for organisations, for external clients as a management consultant & as a service line lead with client/ revenue responsibility. Serena often speaks on the future of learning in start-up and hyper-growth firms, and has authored a chapter on Learning Analytics for the ATD book, L&D's Playbook for the Digital Age

He has over 14 years of experience in the EdTech sector, working with corporate and educational clients to deliver innovative and effective learning solutions that improve performance and outcomes.
Mike has an accreditation in learning technologies from the Learning and Performance Institute and is passionate about transforming the use of digital learning technologies into an everyday habit for users. He is also a published author and blogger, sharing his insights and perspectives on the latest trends and developments in the e-learning industry.

Andy Wooler has some 25 years of global experience in the world of Learning Technologies.
Before joining the Area9Lyceum team in 2021, he served as a Learning Strategist for a leading company in the Data and Digital Solutions space and has led learning platform projects in global Financial Services organizations. He is a regular speaker on topics such as Learning Management Systems and how to use data from learning platforms to gain actionable insights into learning activities.
Andy is a Senior Vice President in the Product Management Team at Area9 Lyceum, focusing on helping organizations integrate Adaptive Learning solutions into their wider learning & HR ecosystems. Andy holds an MBA from the Open University and is a Fellow of the Learning & Performance Institute.

Geraldine Voost is a seasoned L&D professional with over 20 years of experience in the field. With a degree in Cognitive Science, she has a deep understanding of the intersection between psychology and computing science, which she has used throughout her career to design effective and engaging learning experiences.

Geraldine has held various roles within the L&D space, including trainer, instructional designer, e-learning developer, learning technology specialist and L&D management. Her diverse experience has equipped her with the ability to understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing L&D departments of all sizes and types.
